New Agency - Tomich Wines, Adelaide Hills SA
InWine Distribution proudly welcomes Tomich Wines to the National portfolio from April 14th, 2009. Tomich Wines is a high quality, cool-climate producer with a 130 hectare property located adjacent to the iconic Shaw+Smith M3 Vineyard north of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. The wines are made by Randal Tomich with his father Dr John Tomich and a veritable who’s who of the region’s best winemakers in Peter Leske and Tim Knappstein. The three ranges produced by Tomich are Marlborough Park, Tomich Hill and 27 Blocks by Tomich Hill.
The Marlborough Park range is named after a local landmark property that has long been home to a saddlery and other equestrian endeavours. The range currently includes a Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, with further additions including Traminer and a Cabernet blend coming soon.
The Tomich Hill range highlights the intense, pure fruit flavours that are the hallmarks of great Adelaide Hills wines. In addition to the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurtztraminer blend, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir currently in the range, Tomich Hill will soon have a wooded Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Grigio, Shiraz and a late harvest Gewurtztraminer.
The 27 Blocks range is due for release in early 2010, and will reflect uncompromising winemaking combined with the best possible fruit to produce elegant, European styled wines.
All the current release wines are medal winners, and the winery has a 4½ star rating in the current release of James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion.
REVIEW - Tomich Hill Adelaide Hills Riesling 2008
REVIEWER - Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure, The Age, 14/04/09
This Adelaide Hills wine captures the aromatic personality of classic South Australian riesling at a reasonable price, with light stone fruit aromas and hints of lime and floral notes. It's delicate but there's some steely intensity. In the mouth, it's tightly constructed, dry and clean with good balance and a savoury finish.

REVIEW - Tomich Hill Adelaide Hills GSR 2008
REVIEWER - Gary Walsh, Winefront/Winorama, February 2009
I’m guessing that it’s a blend of Gewurtztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. I’m also guessing that the GT got pinged by the heat in 2008, and with some lateral thinking and a bit of clever winemaking, they pushed it all back into shape and pulled a pretty tasty little white rabbit out of their hat.
Musky, laden with ginger spice and rose petals over lychee and tropical fruits it’s full of flavour and quite fat but pulled into shape with some soft but appropriate acid cut. Love the ginger flavours on exit - which is more than a bit dry and flinty and pretty long too. Lovely wine. Incredibly yum. Would be magnificent with some mild Thai food.
